A new re-roof permit for residential properties will cost $90 and will be required to ensure compliance with the 2018 residential code, particularly regarding the number of shingle layers.
FY 2026 Annual Budget
The fiscal year 2026 annual budget was adopted. The general fund shows a slight contraction of 0.5% ($611 million), necessitating 4.5% cuts for most general fund departments and 1.5% for public safety. Other operating funds have a 5% increase, largely due to hotel/motel tax. Non-operating funds (capital investments) increased by 3.39%, driven by a $66 million increase for MAPS 4. The budget includes a reduction of 27 positions (excluding 20 frozen police officer positions).
Fire Sales Tax Appropriations

Public Comments

They requested a reconsideration of the fee hike or a tiered structure. One citizen advocated for changing the budget process and prioritizing violence prevention over policing, highlighting the need to support vulnerable communities. Another citizen expressed concerns about police training and the county jail, advocating for sight and release policies for low-level offenses.
